Intensive courses, unfortunately otherwise known as crash courses, are a popular way of learning to drive. I've been doing them since 2006 and my intensives courses are no different to weekly courses other than it takes far less time to complete them. I do not cut corners, i don't miss things out. It just takes less time. Why spread lessons out over a year when you could have it done in a month or less? Your first assessment lesson with me is free! There's no need to risk paying ahead before you have even met your instructor, in fact I won't take any payment off anyone until I've met them. Come and meet me first, talk to me, see if you like my school and discuss your course and then only book if you're happy. There's no hard sell in the car, I'll make a plan of a possible course with you at the end of the first lesson for you to go home and think about. Your course is structured around your timetable but as an example you could do 930-1130 and 1300-1500 Monday to Friday over 2 weeks. After just 2 weeks that would be 40 hours done which is the average number of hours it takes to learn. Or, you could do a lesson at 1pm on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and have it done in around a month. A great way of doing these courses is to take a few weekly lessons leading up to a week when you do lots of lessons. Or you could do a course in one week followed by 2 or 3 weeks where you do one lesson. I get lots of emails saying "I want a week of lessons with a test on the Friday". Sorry but it just doesn't work like that, tests are only available when they're available. There might be one next Wednesday at 130pm and one 3 weeks later at 9am. There's always a waiting time and you just have to take what there is. Getting one at the end of a week is very unlikely unless you book it about 5 weeks in advance. Read my section below about how schools con people by pretending it can all be done in a week. Everyone has different needs but here is a rough idea of the amount of lessons you need.
40 hours for £760. For pupils with no experience at all 30 hours for £570. For pupils who can already move off/stop and turn corners unaided 20 hours for £380. For those who have driven on main roads before but aren't test ready 10 hours for £190. For those with lots of experience aiming for a test soon
Test fees are not included because i like my pupils to book their own tests and that way you know for sure that it's booked and at a date and time you're free. A common trick used by schools is that they'll sell you a course with a test at the end and either on the day of your test or the day before you'll have a call saying it's cancelled due to the examiner being ill, instructor being ill etc. They'll re-book your test (which was never booked in the first place) but that will be 2 or 3 months away. If you leave they keep your test fee, if you stay you have to pay for hours of more lessons. Gotcha! I've had lots of pupils from these dodgy schools who tell me that this happened to them and it happened to me on my driving lessons. Don't let it happen to you.
