Renault Megane Dynamique DCI - Manual

Lessons with Rob are done in a sporty Renault Megane Dynamique. This car comes fitted with many gadgets and features to help keep you safe that you just won't find on basic cars used by many instructors. All these features can be turned off if you want to get used to driving a more basic car.

Renault Megane

Push button start - Starting the engine is as simple as pushing a button. One of the biggest fears learners have is stalling at a busy junction and then not being able to get going again. It's no problem in this car and there's no fumbling around with keys, there are no keys!

Automatic wipers/lights - As a learner you have enough to think about and concentrate on so let the lights and wipers operate themselves and keep both hands on the wheel.

Automatic door locks - Once the car starts moving the doors lock themselves to prevent people trying to open the door and steal the car while you're waiting at lights. In the event of an accident they open automatically.

Comfortable interior - The wheel, gear stick, handbrake and dash are all in leather meaning you avoid cuts and sores on your hands associated with plastic interiors on cheap cars. The sports seats hug you and you won't roll about on corners while armrests on either side make you comfortable while sitting still. The seat can move up, down, in, out, be made stiffer or softer and the steering wheel can move up, down, in and out. Whether your lessons are long or short, you'll always be comfortable and in the best driving position.

Onboard computer - Monitor your performance by seeing your average fuel consumption, average speed and other details. The computer can show you how economical driving can save you a fortune in fuel.

DCI engine - This engine is much less likely to stall than engines found in small cars due to having much more power and torque. It is responsive and can make it far easier when pulling onto roundabouts and doing high speed driving. We believe learning in a more powerful car makes you a better driver as many accidents that new drivers are involved in are due to being used to driving a tiny engine and then not being able to adjust to having more power when you get your own car. It makes sense to learn how to use a slightly bigger engine while you are having expert tuition.

Sat Nav  - From 2010 onwards you may be required to use sat nav systems as part of your test, see the tests page for details. Not only does it tell you where to go but also gives you valuable information such as warnings of sharp bends, speed limits and junctions up to half a mile before you reach them. It makes driving more fun, you can choose the voice that will guide you including Ozzy Osbourne, John Cleese or Darth vader to make a boring journey more enjoyable.
