A QR (Quick Recognition) code is one of those funny square looking things that you're starting to see all over the place.

It's a kind of barcode that your mobile phone can read. You scan it using your phones camera and it will instantly send you to a website, dial a phone number or play a video without you having to manually enter the number or web address.

How do you use them?

Firstly you'll need a pretty up to date phone. Smart phones such as the Iphone or Blackberry's can all read QR codes but so can many others. If your phone supports apps and has a camera built in you should be ok.

1) Search for "QR code reader" in the apps store, they're free.

2) Once the app is installed just load it and point it at the screen

They're fun because you never know what's going to happen when you point your phone at one. Some might type our email address in for you, some might give you useful hints and advice. Some may even take you to secret pages...
