Is carrying a mattress more dangerous than driving a truck?

I ordered a big luxury mattress for my bed a few days ago and it was delivered last night.

After walking into my house the delivery men said they were sorry but they weren’t allowed to carry it upstairs for health and safety reasons. They drove off and left me with a 38KG (6 stone, 84 pounds) mattress to carry up the stairs on my own!

Why is it safe for them to drive a lethal killing machine, a 7.5 ton truck, around in public, yet carrying a mattress up stairs is seen as too dangerous?
