Second lockdown driving lessons – all the latest news and updates will appear on this page as they happen.

On October 31st 2020 the Prime Minister announced a second lockdown for the UK.

How will this affect driving lessons and driving tests?

Will driving tests go ahead in November?

Can I still take lessons with parents/friends?

Can I travel from England to take a driving test in another part of the UK?

How will this affect driving lessons and driving tests?

Driving lessons and tests are suspended from November 5th to December 2nd 2020.

They are due to start again on December 2nd however this is subject to review nearer the time. I’ll be making video updates on my YouTube channel as soon as there is any news.

Will driving tests go ahead in November?

No. All driving tests are suspended.

Can I still take driving lessons with parents/friends?

You can still practice driving with someone that lives in your household but only when travelling to or from work, education or any other legal exemption. You can’t just go out purely to do a driving lesson.

Can I travel out of England to take a driving test in another part of the UK?

No. If you travel out of England to take your driving test elsewhere then the driving test examiner will refuse to conduct your test.

You can take a test in other parts of the UK such as Scotland or Wales if you live there but you can’t travel there from England to take one.
